Osaka Expo, Japan – 13 May 2025 –

During its annual innovation event at Osaka Expo, Sethic Innovation Labo announced a new investment in a microbiome research facility at its new Wellcare Innovation Center in Guangzhou, marking a major milestone in its global R&D expansion.

“We wish to expand our longevity expertise in the Chinese market, becoming the first supplier for China’s top 10 brands,” stated Jean Yves Bruxer, President of Sethic Innovation Labo.

The center is dedicated to advancing research in microbiome science applied to skincare, with the goal of developing next-generation solutions for sensitive skin, skin micro-ecology, and acne care.

The inauguration ceremony welcomed Mr. Sylvain FOURRIERE, Consul General of France in Canton, who underscored the strong ties between France and China in the fields of beauty, science, and innovation. He emphasized the importance of intersectoral collaboration and reaffirmed the commitment of French beauty and cosmetic companies to environmental sustainability and biodiversity preservation.

Mr. FOURRIERE was joined by key Chinese officials, including Mr. HUANG Jianhua, Vice Director of the Huangpu Market Supervision Bureau; Mr. XIE Zhijie, President of the Guangdong Pharmaceutical Science Regulatory Society; and Dr. CHEN Tian, Deputy Secretary General of the Shanghai Daily Chemical Industry Association.

With an investment of nearly 20 million RMB, the Wellcare Innovation Center is Sethic’s second global laboratory. It houses five specialized application labs and a testing center, providing end-to-end solutions—from raw material treatment and formulation development to advanced testing and analysis.

As microbiome research becomes increasingly central to skincare innovation, it aims to position its unique microbiome technology at the forefront of this scientific revolution. The Guangzhou center will serve as a hub for expanding microbiome-based technologies and strengthening global collaboration in health, beauty, and nutraceutical sciences.

“Our company has had a presence in China for decades, thanks to a historical family connection with the Chinese tea industry, and in Guangzhou since 2003, reinforcing its strategic vision to lead through innovation, sustainability, and international cooperation,” added Elisabeth Bourgois, Global Intellectual Asset Manager at Sethic Innovation Labo.
